Only a particularly reliable and qualified company is recognised as a specialist waste management company. Furthermore, certification as a specialist waste management company is a prerequisite for being permitted to recover certain types of waste or waste from specific sources. Scrap metal is also subject to the waste management regulations set out in the Circular Economy Act.

As part of the annual inspection carried out by an independent expert, compliance with and implementation of the statutory regulations are checked, particularly with regard to the monitoring of the disposal of hazardous (and waste requiring monitoring) waste.
