A new chapter in the history of waste disposal for the Huerth Region began with the founding of the Anno Zimmer & Co. OHG company in September 1949.

New responsibilities arose from dealing with the scrap metal of local energy and transport companies, the core business.

In 1980, these required the company to be renamed to Zimmer Schrott- und Metallhandels GmbH, under the management of Hans-Otto Zimmer in the second generation.

Since 2009 the company is led by Anno Zimmer in third generation.

In 2016, Metall-Chemie Holding GmbH, Hamburg, took over the financing for Zimmer Schrott- und Metallhandels GmbH, strengthening its activities in metal recycling.
